The Australian Society of Clinical Hypnotherapists (ASCH) is one of the largest Australian organisations for health and mental health care professionals using clinical hypnosis.  It was founded and incorporated in 1974 by a small group of Clinical Hypnotherapists and since that time the Society has grown steadily in membership and now has representatives in every state of Australia and as far afield as New Zealand, South Africa, The United States of America, England and Europe.

The members of the Society use hypnosis, as an independent science, and / or as an adjunct to the range of treatment modalities for a wide range of medical, psychological, dental and therapeutic applications. The Society encourages members, located in every state, to participate in conferences, workshops and other specialist trainings in their areas, designed to foster clinical skills development across a range of applications of hypnosis in health, psychological, dental and therapeutic settings.

ASCH membership is mostly made up of health care professionals ranging from hypnotherapists to psychologists, psychiatrists, clinical social workers, marriage and family therapists, mental health counselors, medical doctors, registered nurses and midwives, dentists and chiropractors specialising in hypnosis. This provides an opportunity to learn from and interact with colleagues in other health and mental health care disciplines. This allows for a cross fertilization of ideas and applications that meshes neatly with current trends, such as mind-body health and integrative medicine.
