The Science of Hope in the Cancer Journey

Join us for an enlightening webinar with Helen McLucas on The Science of Hope in the Cancer Journey, where we will delve into the profound impact of hope on both mental and physical health. Helen will explore the scientific underpinnings of hope, illustrating how this powerful emotion can significantly improve outcomes for those navigating the challenges of cancer. Hope has been shown to enhance immune function, reduce stress, and improve overall well-being, providing patients with the resilience needed to face their diagnosis and treatment.

Beyond its role in the cancer journey, hope is universally applicable, offering immense benefits in any life-changing event by fostering a positive outlook, enhancing coping mechanisms, and facilitating recovery. This webinar promises to equip attendees with a deeper understanding of the transformative power of hope and practical strategies to harness its benefits in their own lives or the lives of those they support.

About Helen McLucas

Helen McLucas is a distinguished advocate, community builder, and mental health professional with over a decade of experience working with the Science of Hope. Her journey in community building began in her teenage years and her early initiative sparked a lifelong dedication to community service, culminating in her receiving the 2022 Parliament of NSW Award for Community Service. Helen has consistently demonstrated the vital importance of connection and community, a belief reinforced by Harvard University’s longitudinal study showing that our relationships and happiness profoundly influence our health.

In addition to her community work, Helen is a passionate mental health advocate. Recognising that mental health issues can manifest in various ways, from diagnosable conditions like anxiety and depression to a general sense of not feeling oneself, she is also a strong advocate for vulnerable people and their communities, especially those people living with a disability and seniors, tirelessly giving a voice to those who often go unheard.

Helen’s extensive qualifications, including an MBA, diplomas in Clinical Hypnotherapy, Psychotherapy, Professional Counselling and Hypno-Oncology, as well as many certification level qualifications, equip her with the knowledge and tools to guide others in overcoming challenges and achieving a fulfilling life.
